The City of Savannah recently received an IBM KidsSmart grant that awarded YFA 30 Young Explorer Little Tikes units to be placed in SCCPSS Pre-K and lower grades classrooms and across selected community centers and child care facilities. YFA was pleased to partner with the SCCPSS on this. This is great news for our early learners and complements our Savannah Promise Neighborhood work. THANK YOU City of Savannah and IBM!

Teen Maze

A Teen Maze event was held at Jenkins High School in April to expose 9th grade students to various life altering events which should help them to recognize the consequences associated with decisions they make and activites they participate in.  Stations were set up to let them interact in such areas as: car crash scene, DUI, dating and decisions, responsibilities associated with a baby, etc.  This was the first Teen Maze event of thie type held, and judging from the positive feedback received from both students and adults, plans are underway to have a second event of ths type.
