Savannah Promise Neighborhood
The Promise Neighborhood planning grant has been submitted. Announcements will be made in September for funded sites. We THANK YOU ALL for the tremendous work that has taken place to move us closer to the realization of the Savannah Promise Neighborhood!
The Savannah Promise Neighborhood (SPN) will be an early childhood development and education initiative. View the Rotary-Kiwanis Clubs white paper on Early Childhood Education that will have elements incorporated into the SPN white paper for the proposed target area. - Savannah Promise Neighborhood Oversight Committee will meet on Friday, July 30, at 8:30 a.m. at the Chatham County Health Department (Eisenhower Drive) in the Training Room.
YFA Receives School Health Clinic Grant
YFA was notified by the Emory University Department of Pediatrics that it was a recipient of a Comprehensive School-Based Health Clinic grant. This planning grant will help in the implementation of a school-based health clinic that will probably be placed in an elementary school in the Savannah Promise Neighborhood area.

Young Voices Youth Advisory Council
In an effort to make youth leadership programs accessible to young people, the Young Voices Youth Advisory Council was revived in 2007 to serve as a “think tank” for members of the Chatham-Savannah Youth Futures Authority Collaborative Board. The Council has three priority areas that they focus on throughout the year: teen pregnancy prevention, juvenile delinquency prevention, and educational success. The Council is comprised of high school students (9th – 12th grades) and is a service-learning organization that teaches and engages students in solving problems within their schools and communities as an integral part of their academic studies. Students will have the opportunity to become more effective citizens through acts of community stewardship and civic action. The students meet on a monthly basis with the opportunity to participate in additional community service projects throughout the year.
