St. Pius X Family Resource Center

The St. Pius X Family Resource Center (FRC) is a One-Stop Shop facility where neighborhood residents and others can access services, supports, and activities to help improve their quality of life. The FRC is often referred to as the “hub of the community,” and provides an array of human and social services and activities designed to support children, youth, and families in the community.

Being the first Catholic high school built for and supported by African-Americans, the FRC building was once a source of pride for the community. After being vacant for several years, the Chatham-Savannah Youth Futures Authority (YFA) saw an opportunity to strengthen the neighborhood by co-locating multiple family support services where they were most needed, and to build an on-going collaboration among community leaders, concerned citizens, businesses, and governmental entities.

In 1994, what was once an influential high school was transformed and officially opened as the St. Pius X Family Resource Center. Now in consistent operation and management by the YFA for 15 years, the FRC continues to serve as an exemplary model of true collaboration at work and what is possible through commitment and the sharing of a common vision.

The FRC also serves as a Center for Working Families (CWF) site, where bundled services are offered that assist people in the areas of employment and career services, income and work supports, and financial and asset building. These bundled services are designed to help move people out of poverty and to improve their economic condition.

Hours of operation:
General business hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Youth Development activities: Monday-Friday, 3:30pm-7:00pm
