St. Pius X Family Resource Center

The St. Pius X Family Resource Center (FRC) is a One-Stop Shop facility where neighborhood residents and others can access services to help improve their quality of life. The FRC provides an array of human and social supports and services designed to assist youth, adults and families.

Being the first Catholic high school built for and supported by African-Americans, the St. Pius X High School building was once a source of pride for the community. After being vacant for several years, the Chatham-Savannah Youth Futures Authority (YFA) saw an opportunity to strengthen the neighborhood by co-locating multiple family support services where they were most needed, and to build an on-going collaboration among community leaders, concerned citizens and community-based organizations.

In 1994, what was once an influential high school was transformed and officially opened as the St. Pius X Family Resource Center. Now in consistent operation and management for 14 years, the FRC continues to serve as an exemplary model of true collaboration at work and what is possible through commitment and the sharing of a common vision.
