The Chatham-Savannah Youth Futures Authority (YFA) has been legislated to use its collaborative framework to improve the quality of life for the children, youth, and families that reside in Chatham County, Georgia. This has been achieved through advocacy, studying policy, and reporting. The YFA has diligently provided these to our community for over twenty years. Collaboration and partner agency commitments have sustained the Authority since its inception in 1988, and continue to serve as critical components in the Authority’s structure, thereby laying the foundation for policy and system change that can foster more positive outcomes for our community.
Annual reporting to the Chatham County community on the condition of children, youth, and families is accomplished through several methods. The annual status report serves as one of these methods. These status reports are not only a testament to true collaboration, but also allow the entire community to closely examine key indicators that affect the preparedness of our children, youth, and families to thrive and succeed in life.
The Authority is proud to continue publishing these reports to the Chatham-Savannah community. We have embarked on a new direction to ensure that more measurable outcomes and accountability are monitored in the work of community agencies and institutions that directly impacts children and families. During 2011, this new direction will entail performing an assessment of the youth service delivery system in Chatham County. This assessment will enable the Authority to begin to better "connect the dots" with regards to the reported indicators, needs, and the capacity to serve the targeted populations.
The new 2009 Kids Matter! report will be posted on this page by the end of January 2011.
